We are proud to present you with our new journal, Burn Care and Prevention, which will be published 4 times a year: March, June, September, and December. The journal will be the official journal of the Middle East Burn and Fire Disaster Society (MEBFDS). It will be supported by the Turkish Burn and Fire Disaster Society (TYAD), by the Baskent University Burn and Fire Disaster Institute, and by the World Academy of Medical, Biomedical and Ethical Sciences (WAMBES). Publisher of the journal will be Baskent University.
Millions of people sustain burn injuries every year and all suffer; some of them die and many are permanently disfigured. Fire-related burns, which are the most common type of burn that occurs during daily life activities, unfortunately continue to happen. Burns are associated with various complications. Individuals suffering from burns are affected not only physically but also psychologically and socio-economically.
As physicians in the field of burn care, our first goal should be to create public awareness and to educate our nations regarding prevention of fire and burns.
Because risk factors that lead to burn injuries are often preventable but the resulting complications in survivors are often life-threatening, truly the best way to treat a burn is to prevent it from happening in the first place. Increased prevention efforts would likely lead to significant reductions in rates of burn-related deaths and disabilities worldwide.
Burn Care and Prevention will address a variety of cutting-edge issues in the field of burn injuries and fire disasters. The Journal will provide a forum for clinical scientists, basic scientists, ethicists, and public health professionals to communicate ideas and advances in the field of burn care, prevention of burn injuries, research, education, and delivery of acute care and to discuss related social and ethical issues. The topics will be of interest to all professionals involved in preventing and treating the effects of burns.
The Journal accepts original articles, research articles, review articles, case reports, reports on clinical care, rehabilitation and prevention, surgical techniques, letters to the editor, and editorials.
The Editorial team of Burn Care and Prevention invites you to contribute your valuable work in the upcoming issues. It will be a great honor for us and an excellent opportunity for you to share your newest scientific work.
